New Belgium RyePA Review

RyePA
I drank this beer today (3.26.2016) while grilling up some burgers.  Poured in a pint glass, it was a light amber color with a weakish head.  Smelled earthy (?).  IT was quite refreshing and went down easier than your standard IPA.  I was surprised to see the IBU’s clocking in at 75.  Drank much easier than that.  Also, as you can see, the label has a mustachioed hop frog.  Which is awesome.  I think my reviews should start including a review of the label art.  All in all, I rate it: Would drink again.

Here are the stats:

Style: Rye Beer

Glassware Used:  Standard Pint Glass

ABV: 7.5%

IBU: 75

Abita Mardi Gras Bock review

First off, I didn’t take a picture.  Sorry I was thirsty.

I drank this beer today after a short run.  I drank it directly from the bottle so we are going on taste alone here.  The beer was very smooth without a hop attack.  It quenched my post run thirst and went down easy.

Here are the stats:

Style: Maibock

Glassware Used:  Sorry, just the bottle.  Boo.

ABV: 6.5%

IBU: 25

Thumbs Up

Founders Porter Review

The Details:

Beer: Porter

Brewery: Founders

Style: American Porter

ABV: 6.50%

Format: 12oz bottle served in a stemless wine glass

The Review:

Appearance:  Pours black with a thick tan head that dissipated slowly.  The only thing visible through this dark brew are tiny bubbles raising around the edges of the glass.

Aroma:  I smell toasted chocolate and and burnt coffee malts in a big way.

Taste:  The first thing I noticed was a wave of hops making their presence known.  In the back of my mouth I am tasting caramel and roasted malts.

Mouthfeel: There is refreshing carbonation hitting you right in the mouth with each sip.  I was surprised with the amount of carbonation coming through with this one.

Overall:  Overall, this is a solid porter.  Great way to introduce yourself to porters and I highly recommend it.
